You may be asking yourself why you would ever need a boat rod holder. Well, the first thing that comes to mind is that if you want to catch fish, but don't enjoy being welded to your rod all day, a rod holder might just come in handy. They help to free up your hands so that you can walk about the boat, get a bite to eat, or just lean back and enjoy the day knowing that your rod is not going to be yanked into the lake without you knowing something has just grabbed hold of the bait.
Did you know that even a small fish has the ability to pull your rod right into the water when it is simply leaned against the side of the boat? That's right, and you don't want to lose expensive equipment or spoil your day, do you. By using just one simple piece of equipment, you will save yourself a ton of money and a lot of frustration.
For those of you who don't know what a rod holder is, here is an easy explanation. It is a tool that attaches to the side of the boat which allows you to place your rod in the correct position for catching fish without having to hold it all the time. Some are even attached to the bottom of the boat, but the reason many anglers like them is that they allow you to practice a variety of techniques all at the same time.
There is an upper portion of a boat rod holder on which the rod rests, and a lower portion which catches the rod and prevents it from going any further over and into the water. This works great and gives you plenty of time to set the hook and start reeling your catch in before it gets away, even if you are all the way across the boat.
All you have to do is lift the rod up and out of the holder when it is time to start working the fish. If you have ever wondered why some fishermen or women seem to catch all the fish, maybe you should take a look at the boats they use. Do you see a number of boat rod holders being used? If so, you probably have your answer. Savvy anglers know that if they want to win at this game they have to be smarter than the fish.
Another advantage of using this piece of equipment is that you won't have to worry so much about getting your lines all tangled up like can happen when they are scattered along the bottom of the boat. Just imagine how much more fun you will have when you go out on the lake or river with a collection of rod holders of your own. You can sit back and relax with a cold drink in your hand and a nice sandwich without worrying that you will spill any of it just because you don't want to let that big one get away.
