Making sure that you have all the Fly Fishing equipment that you need at the beginning of the season, will mean that you can get the most use out of it his year, and won't buy something at the end of the season, and not be able to sue it until next year.

Fishing Rods

You might not need to replace your fishing rod, but you might want another one for when you are fishing for different fish, or in different waters. You might want a dedicated sea fishing rod, a salmon rod and a trout rod. In addition, you might want a longer rod, or a shorter rod depending on whether you like fishing whilst wading in deep water, on relaxing on the side of the river bank.

You don't have to have the most expensive rod, or the lightest, however having the most comfortable and appropriate rod will make a difference to you and getting it wrong could put you off fishing.

By checking you rod before you go fishing you'll know that it's in good condition, and will stand up to another season's fishing.

Fishing Reels

If you haven't looked after your reels properly, or the type of fishing you do has changed, then perhaps you'll need new reels.

Like fishing rods, fishing reels don't have to be expensive and complicated, and depending on what you fish for and where, you might find that the most basic and cheapest reels are right for you. You might spend a lot of time in the water, and so want a spool that's easy to use with cold wet hands, or one that you can feed using your hands. By trying several you'll know what suits your style of fishing.

Flies

Flies are a personal choice, and there may be experts who fish where you fish who are more successful than you are, and are using different sorts of flies. If you don't know what to use, why not ask and see what other people recommend?

Fishing Lines

The right line depends on the sort of fish you're going to be catching, and where you're fishing. You might want to use floating line, or you may prefer sinking line. Which ever you use, make sure that you look after it, and that it is ready for this fishing season.

Fishing Clothing

The right fishing clothing can mean the difference between having a great day out fishing, and being cold and wet all day, and not being able to do anything about it. From warm waterproof jackets and waders, to hats, gloves and socks, making sure that you have the right clothing is important. Why not check now and make sure that your fishing clothing is up to another season?

Fishing Accessories

Fishing Bags, boxes, nets floatants, sinkants, scales and scissors are also important fishing accessories. You might not need to replace some of these accessories for many years if you look after them, but items do get lost or damaged, so it's worth making sure that you have everything you need before you head out.

If you're getting ready for another summer sat on the bank, or in the river, make you're you get properly prepared in advance.
