So now you have gained some experience when it comes to landing carp on your local pond and you are ready for the next big challenge. You have read the magazines and are ready to just go invest in more professional tackle, such as a top quality bait alarms.

Face it, fishing can become obsessive! I know all too well.

I came across an angler who advised before you could move on the next level you forget everything you had learned so far. A bit Zen I know but maybe not as daft as you think as we can become caught up in having to mix our bait in just the right way or the fish won't take it!

His suggestion was doing everything wrong to see if you wouldn't catch a fish all day. Wear the wrong clothes, no camouflage but a bright red shirt and cast like a beginner making a huge splash. According to him carp get to know our under hand ways and just might be fooled by this approach. What do you think?

In all seriousness however, I suggest going on a fishing holiday where you can land some massive carp. you'll soon learn if you have bitten off more than you can chew!

Here a few ideas for you:

Europe

France - There are some wonderful locations in France and they have some very large carp and even bigger cat fish (100lb+). You don't have to take a tent as they have lovely cabins to stay in that can hold your family too, or you fishing buddies, you decide!

Spain

Becoming ever popular as a fishing location with truly huge carp. One angler caught a 79lb carp while fishing at Lake Orellana. I love Spanish food and beer too so an extra bonus! Check out http://www.catchcarpspain.com, it's all in the title!

America

Arkansas - Twice the size of my beloved homeland England and they have some large carp too. You can fish all year around as the weather usually never gets that bad. While there why not visit Little Rock!

St. Lawrence: New York State - The St. Lawrence river runs along the border with Canada and is over 1000 miles in length. It contains some fantastic carp.

Just a few suggestions for you but why not Google, "Carp Fishing Vacations". Wherever you go have a great time. Send me a few photos of the monsters you land!
