One of the most important items you will need as a great fisherman is a tackle box. Boxes come in many types and sizes. If you do different types of fishing, such as salt versus fresh water fishing, maybe river trout fishing or ice fishing, you might want to have a different types of boxes for each. The different tackle boxes are described as mostly plastic with drawers, trays, some open on top, some open to the side, some open up with folding trays; some have removable trays with removable dividers.
The newer type tackle boxes are light weight material such as lightweight plastic, nylon or synthetic canvas bags with multiple trays inside. These are very popular with river fishing because they are lighter and easy to carry over the shoulder or attached at the waist. Deciding what size of tackle box you need, could depend on the type of fishing gear you have to put in it. The saltwater fisherman, might want a larger tackle box for larger fishing gear such as large offshore fishing lures, large spoons, hooks of many sizes, large spools of fishing line, filet knives, fishing leaders, leader wires, large fishing weights for bottom fishing, skirts for squid fishing, live bait rigs and leaders, etc.
The freshwater fisherman will need a tackle box that will accommodate such items as artificial baits: rubber worms, lures, small spoons, jigs and float's. And other items that are a must for the freshwater fisherman to be adequately equipped..
The fly fisherman might be looking for one of those light weight synthetic material bags with small dividers inside to keep the flies separated from each other as they walk along the banks of the river casting their lines.
The dock fisherman may need something that would hold a verity of item's depending on the type of fish he may be trying to catch.
The offshore fisherman need's to be able to have everything in one place so nothing get's left behind. I know it's not fun getting out there and not having what you need.
The surf fisherman that walk's the seashore casting their lines use the hip style tackle bag's which can hold some extra hook's, lures, bait and line so they will be ready in case they need to change the rig or replace the line.
So I hope you can now see the importance of a tackle box and how it will help improve your fishing experience.
