While the waters are cooling, and there are not as many fisherman on the water, that does not mean the fish are not biting. Often times, this is one of the best times of year to fish, especially carp fishing. The fish are more active than in the hot summer months as they try to bulk up for winter. Also, the cooler waters decrease fishing pressure so not everyone has their tackle in the water. Often times, pressure really turns fish off and only so many will bite. However, after Labor Day is the time people pack it in. Do not make this mistake, grab a coat, and head to the waters.

One thing you might want to do is too slow down your presentation some. The fish may not be as aggressive, and could be pooling up in one area. Once you find them though, it can be payday. Try baits such as corn, bread, worms, and other basic things. Some can go much more in depth with hair rigs, bite alarms, casting pods, rod pods, etc., but they are not always needed. Carp fishing tackle can still be simple and catch fish.

Make sure your reels have quality line on them. By now, most people have knots and used line from the entire season. This is not good, reline your reels and put on some fresh quality fishing line. 10 - 15 pound test is fine, but you will not be able to cast it well. 8 pound line is good, but you may loose some big ones.

Your carp fishing rod should be stout, but whip enough to cast long distances. Also, some use a slingshot and heave some corn or other chum into the area. This can work well, but do it in advance.

Hope these tips help.

I enjoy fishing and so should you.
