If you are looking for some easy ways to catch trout, this article is for you. In it I will draw upon my twenty five years of experience fishing for trout to outline some of the most effective (and easy) trout fishing tactics that I have come across in that time. For the most part these tactics are for the beginning trout fisherman or person who has very little experience fishing for the beautiful species of fish known as "trout".
Truth be told, these tactics can continue to be used and as you gain experience, they will become even more effective for you. One of the keys to all forms of fishing, is that as you implement idea's and tactics and gain experience on the water putting said ideas and tactics into action, the more successful you will become as an angler. In any case the point is that if you want to learn a few easy ways to catch trout, read on.
The first tactic involves the use of salmon eggs. Salmon eggs, rigged on a small salmon egg hook can be used while "drift fishing" in the flowing water of a river or stream or under a small bobber (or float) in rivers, streams, or lakes. A great area to fish salmon eggs is in an area where a river enters a lake. Throw your bobber towards the mouth of the incoming river and let the bobber float with the current of the river as it flows out into the lake. Make sure that you use a small float and when the bobber (float) goes underwater, set the hook. Hungry trout that live in the lake often feed at creek and river mouths as various forms of food gets washed into their residence.
The next way to catch more trout is to fish a live worm, especially in a river or stream that contains trout. The key here is that your worm is rigged in an outstretched and natural manner, so that it appears completely natural to the trout that you are fishing for. This can be accomplished by using a set of gang hooks, and is definitely one of the best ways that I know of to catch trout. "Drift fishing" is my technique of choice, but bottom fishing with a live worm that has been inflated with a worm blower is also a very effective trout fishing technique when you are fishing in large slow moving pools or in a lake.
Finally, we come to one of the easiest ways to catch trout that there is and it involves the use of the popular trout bait known as Powerbait. The most effective way to fish with Powerbait is to use it on a simple bottom fishing rig in a lake that has been stocked with trout. One key to using Powerbait is to keep the portions of bait small, which means that very small fishing hooks need to be employed. Treble hooks should be size #18 or #22 and single shank hooks should be #10 or #12. The other key is once your bait is cast out into the water, let it sink to the bottom. Then keep your line as taught as possible at all times so that you can see when a hungry tout is biting your offering.
If you want to go out and catch a few trout, add these simple and easy ways to catch trout to your memory bank. Then as you gain experience you will learn nuances that will make each of these easy techniques even more effective.
